Digital design tools are constantly being developed, redeveloped and improved. How can this process be made more collaborative – and should it? The first ADD FORUM gathered professionals in the field of Computer Aided Design (CAD), and included discussions on the future environments and tools of engineers and designers.
Lauri Poldre, partner at GrabCAD, presented opportunities of crowdsourcing engineering design. He also discussed how GrabCAD can be used to generate business ideas and to approach problems from alternative angles.
Juhani Jantunen, senior manager at Dassault Systems, introduced advancements in PLM and simulation systems, and how they enable concurrent engineering and testing of complex systems ranging from household appliances to oil rigs.
Andrea Buda, from the CAD/CAM/CAE Research group at Aalto University, presented a project on Simulation Driven Product Development and Simulation Lifecycle that he has been working on with CAD/CAM software.
What kind of environments and tools will engineers and designers use in the future?
